CoSpaces Edu to launch a MERGE Cube content creation tool

--

The leading educational technology for AR & VR creation, CoSpaces Edu will release a new feature on November 12, 2018, letting kids build their own creations for the MERGE Cube and projecting them onto the MERGE Cube in AR (Augmented Reality).

Offered as an additional paid feature to the CoSpaces Edu Pro license plan, the MERGE Cube add-on will make it possible for teachers and students to create content specifically for the MERGE Cube in CoSpaces Edu.

The add-on for CoSpaces Edu Pro will give access to a new MERGE Cube space creation feature, dedicated to building virtual content specifically for the MERGE Cube. MERGE Cube spaces will let students easily build on top a virtual 3D cube by simply dragging and dropping anything they’d like to use and placing it anywhere on, inside and around the 3D cube.

A large library of 3D objects and the Google Poly integration gives plenty of options to create with. Additionally, students can import their own 3D models, external images and GIFs, but also sound files to use in their creations.

MERGE Cube spaces can be projected onto the MERGE Cube, using a smartphone or tablet with the CoSpaces Edu mobile app. Looking through the device’s screen, the MERGE Cube will essentially turn into a hologram using AR technology, letting kids hold their creations in their own hands.

This release is backed by many educators who have been waiting for a tool to let their students go further than just viewing existing content on the MERGE Cube and finally being able to create their own. Science teacher Jennifer Cauthers said:

“Student creation on the MERGE Cube empowers our students to take an active role as they construct interactive artefacts of their learning. It also fosters design thinking, communication and digital citizenship skills as they create and share their spaces with others.”

The CoSpaces Edu Gallery will feature examples by CoSpaces Edu and MERGE Cube creations publicly shared by users, which anyone will be able to view.
